Dr. Afroza Ahmed

Training and Experiences

Dr. A received her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Arizona School of Professional Psychology (ASPP) at Argosy University where she received her training in treating adults, families, couples, adolescents, and children. In her clinical training, she also evaluated and treated individuals who struggled with trauma, anxiety, depression, emotions, relationship issues, addiction, and family challenges, among others. As part of her doctoral study, she worked at a Juvenile Correctional Facility, Adolescent Substance Abuse Program, and Therapeutic Boarding School. She completed her post-doctorate at Southwest Behavioral Health & Services where she treated children, adolescents, adults, family, and couples and led a trauma group, pain management group, adult substance abuse group, and meditation group.

Dr. A is trained in EMDR therapy to help individuals with simple and complex trauma. She also has advanced mindfulness and hypnotherapy trainings. Dr. A values individual differences and has personal and professional experiences with diversity, which inspired her to developed a culturally responsive program for women with collectivistic values.

Dr. A completed her doctoral and master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the Arizona School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University. She graduated summa cum laude with her bachelor's in psychology from Barrett, the Honors College at Arizona State University. She is a member of the Arizona Psychological Association (APA).

INTERESTS

In her spare time, Dr. A enjoys mindfulness-based practices through various activities, including meditation and cooking healthy Bangladeshi food with organic ingredients and anti-inflammatory spices. Dr. A also enjoys reading recent research findings on health and nutrition, spending quality time with her family, playing Sudoku, watching movies and documentaries, creating videos on mental health, and writing articles on mental health and fiction and non-fiction short stories.
